Green Thumb Ranchers

Our November 13th meeting took place at the Caloosahatchee Regional Park.  We participated in a Guided Night Walk. There were a total of 29 of us that enjoyed the beautiful night air, and spooky sounds! We had a lot of fun! Before the walk we had a short club meeting. We turned in our Bee Authentic Fundraiser and received our new 4-H Club T-shirts.

Our next meeting will be on December 18th at which time we will enjoy our Christmas party and begin making our Incubators for entry into our booth at the Fair.

4-H Sea Cadets:

This past meeting the Sea Cadets took photos at Jaycee Park. Many great photos were taken of friends and nature. Mr. David helped us again with tips and ideas for our photographs. Then, on October 29th we sewed more quilts. Once the quilts are finished, they will be going to the Ronald Mc.Donald House and other charities.  The manatee and dolphin boat trip will be rescheduled for a later date, due to windy weather. We are all looking forward to another great boat trip, this time with Marine Biologist, Joy!

4-H Just 4 Kicks

On November 13, 2010, the Just 4 Kicks 4-H group held our monthly meeting. We discussed all of our upcoming events including the bake and tack sale this coming Saturday, Nov. 20th at Detour Farms. We also got our Just 4 Kicks T-shirts which look really good. Following the meeting, we went to the Sarasota Gun Range for a gun safety course. We shot skeet with a 20 gauge shot gun and made it a competition between the parents and kids to see who could shoot more skeet. Kids won with about 20 skeet shots over the parents only shooting about 3. It was so much fun and we learned a lot while doing it from our instructor Mr. Cox. He taught us about different types of guns, how to handle guns safely, how to shoot guns safely and he even showed us how to clean the guns after we shot them. We really enjoyed going out to the gun range and personally, I wouldn't mind going out and doing it again!
